A new visual identity for a brand built on precision

ABOUT

DARPO is a technical company based in Łódź, Poland, with a presence on the market since 1990. Specializing in the sale and calibration of scales, the production of food labels and stickers, as well as fiscal cash registers for both individual and corporate clients, DARPO has built a solid reputation over more than three decades. Following a recent decision to change the company name, the leadership approached me to create a completely new visual identity — a bold rebranding initiative that would honor the company’s legacy while reflecting its evolution and future ambitions.

Challenge

The main challenge was designing a new brand identity for a company with such a long-standing and recognizable presence. Their previous yellow-and-black logo had become a familiar visual marker, and any redesign needed to strike a balance between continuity and innovation. From the outset, it was also clear that the new logo should visually reference the company's core technical focus — particularly weighing systems and fiscal devices. The new identity had to be modern and professional, yet still relatable to their loyal client base and recognizable within their niche industry.

Collaboration

We began the process by diving into DARPO’s history, market position, and brand values. Through a series of in-depth discussions, we clearly defined the goals of the rebrand. One key point from the brief was that the new logo should subtly reference the weighing calibration process. Inspired by this, I began sketching various scale-related elements and discovered a meaningful visual connection between a traditional calibration weight and the letter “A.” This led to a breakthrough idea: redesigning the “A” in the company name to resemble the shape of a calibration weight. Throughout the project, we worked closely together to refine each stage — from concept and sketches to the color palette and brand applications.

Solution

The final identity centers around a distinctive “A” shaped like a calibration weight — a clever visual nod to DARPO’s technical roots and precision-driven services. The new color palette shifted away from the outdated yellow-and-black combination, opting instead for more muted, technical tones that convey professionalism and modernity. The chosen typography is clean and strong, emphasizing trust, expertise, and stability. The visual system was carefully designed for versatility across print, packaging, digital media, and signage.

The rebrand was received with great enthusiasm by both long-time clients and new audiences. It successfully repositioned DARPO in the market, reinforcing its credibility while opening the door to future growth. We continue to collaborate on new materials and projects, building on the strong foundation created during this transformation.
